Assembling The Stupa
Layering first cedar, then tsa tsas, then juniper, tamping it down, repeating that many times; Placing the Tsok Ching and the other previously prepared relics, all while chanting Karmapa Khyen-no for about two hours in the morning and several more hours in the afternoon;
Thrangu Rinpoche invited both the video and camera people to document the process very closely. |
The Bumpa section was placed in the afternoon. Sangha members present were each invited to place two tsa tsas into the bumpa and pour juniper. Then the spire was added a section at a time, the sangha again taking turns placing the gold rings. Lady Lila Rich placed the last three. Then Thrangu Rinpoche sealed the top, and the base was unwrapped. A Sakyamuni Buddha rupa was placed in the ghyo and a scarf draped over the top.
The entire
day was documented and filmed.
As the afternoon preparations ended, an extremely vivid rainbow appeared over the building.
Stills from the video documention will be incorporated here soon.
