MEDITATION
Why Meditate?
The more we practice meditation, the less distinction there is between meditation and nonmeditation, and being ourselves begins to become a natural, ongoing situation no matter what we are experiencing. No matter what our state of mind, everything becomes workable - there is some spark of brilliance and delight always. This is a very profound and desirable result.
When the effect of meditation takes hold, we take interest in the details of our life and our world. Our mind is open and it goes everywhere. The result is that our personal dignity, the sanity of our mind, shines out like the sun's rays in all aspects of our life. Our nature shines out. We become confident about ourselves, and we start to cheer up. And when we cheer up, we cheer up unconditionally, without depending on circumstances. This benefits our world.
So, you see, the practice of meditation is not self-improvement at all! It is a process of unraveling ourselves, so that the natural and constant processes of awake intelligence that we have as human beings can manifest. This is why it is called, being awake!
