Hamish Maclaren
Chair of the Accessibility Working Group
Served as a Kusung to the Vidyadhara and the Sakyong. He became a paraplegic in 1983 following an illness and has used a wheelchair since then. He trained in hotel management in London in the early seventies and worked in that and other fields in a number of countries. He holds a MA from Naropa University in Contemplative Psychotherapy and worked on the crisis team at the Boulder mental health center. He teaches in the Shambhala School of Buddhist Studies at the Boulder Shambhala Center, is coordinator of the Office of Health and Well-being and a member of the Wisdom Council. He has been advocating for handicapped access in the Shambhala community for some years and was a member of the Diversity and Accessibility working group. He is the father of two adult daughters. His bodhisattva name is Fearless All-joyful.
