Acharya Richard John
Representative of the Council of Acharyas
Richard's seat on the Sakyong's Council is representing the Council of Acharyas. He became a student of the Vidyadhara in 1975, and has served as a kusung, production manager of the shrine room interiors in Boulder and at Karme Choling, resident director of Shambhala Training, and centre director in Halifax. Richard was a member of the first group to complete the three-year retreat at Gampo Abbey. He now makes a living by traveling and teaching at Shambhala Centres in North and South America, Europe and New Zealand. Originally from Washington DC, he lives in Halifax with two media stars, his wife Liz and dog Pachi.
