Warrior General

Marty's Shambhala name, Tagtruk Dao, Tigercub Moonlight, was given to him by the Druk Sakyong upon his examination as Kusung Dapon. He has been a student since 1970, was an attaché to the Druk Sakyong, serving him as the Kusung Dapon Kyi Khyap, member of the Council of the Makyi Rapjam, Privy Council and Board of Directors of Vajradhatu. Marty was the founding Executive Director of Naropa Institute, the long-time host of the Shambhala Day broadcast and serves the sangha and Sakyong today as Warrior General of Shambhala. He is Chair of the Board of Naropa University, President of the Nova Scotia Nature Trust, and Vice President of Jacques Whitford, one of Canada's premier environmental consulting firms.
