Alex Halpern
Vice-chair, Chair of the Corporate Affairs Committee and Chief Legal Counsel
Alex has been a member of the Boulder Shambhala community since 1972 and a practicing attorney since 1976. Over the years, his legal practice has primarily focused on civil litigation and appeals on behalf of school districts and educational associations. He also specializes inthe representation of nonprofit and religious organizations. Alex has served as an officer of Shambhala for over twenty years, including fourteen years as a member of the Board of Directors of Shambhala (Chairman 1994-99) and the Board of Trustees of Naropa University. He i also a founding member of the Board of Directors of Shambhala Mountain Center and has been the president of the Ashoka Credit Union since 1976. Alex and his wife Carol have three adult children, Solomon, Eve, and Peter, and two grandchildren. His Bodhisattva name is Bridge of Prajna.
