Shambhala Day (Celebrated) with Sitting Meditation, Prerecorded Address from the Sakyong, Presentations, and Pot Luck

Sunday, February 17th, we celebrate Shambhala Day
at our TSMC. This Nyida Day, on of the four we observe each year,
marks Losar, Tibetan New Year. The date actually falls on Monday, Feb.
11th for the Year of the Water Snake, however being a weekday, we
gather on Sunday for our community observance. Families, friends and
everyone is most welcome to attend the public events, or just come for
brunch before noon and enjoy sociability!

What follows is an outline of our schedule which is subject to adjustment:

7:30 - 8:45 a.m. Tantrikas are invited for a sunrise Werma Sadhana
practice with New Year toasts in the Shiwa Okar Shrine Room.


9:00 - 9:30 a.m. Everyone is cordially invited for morning chants and
shamatha/vipashyana sitting practice in the Rigden Shrine Room.


9:30 - 10:00 a.m. Elixir of Life Sadhana (Birthday Sadhana) Open to all.

Approximately 10:00 a.m.  Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche's Address to the
Shambhala Community (recorded Feb. 11th)

At the conclusion of The Sakyong's Address, we will present a short
community update and fundraiser for the benefit of Shambhala
International. Pledge cards will be distributed.

About 11:30 a.m., we begin the New Year with a COMMUNITY POTLUCK
BRUNCH. Everyone is warmly encouraged to enjoy sociability, food and
drink together.

If you would like to contribute to our meal, please sign up Sunday ,
Feb. 9th and state what you'd like to bring. Deli meats and cheeses
will be provided along with an assortment of beverages. You might
consider bringing items such as a green salad, Waldorf salad, chicken
salad, tuna salad, breads, condiments, crudite and dips,  quiches,
hummus & crackers or pita,  fresh fruit, fruit salad, pies,
croissants, cookies, veggie or meat pate, etc.
