Childrens Day & Winter Solstice
December 16 / 3:00 PM - December 16 / 6:00 PM
Celebrated by the worldwide Shambhala community in conjunction with the winter solstice, Children's Day provides a special opportunity to express appreciation for - and with - our children. This annual holiday celebrates the light that children bring to our lives! At a time when the weather and darkness begin to bear down upon us, we turn to family, in all it's varieties, for celebration, creativity, and generosity. At the heart of the Children's Day festivities is the children's shrine, the representation of the dignity of the family, the joy and creativity of the youthful heart, and the celebration of the senses.
The Public is welcome! The celebration will include: snacks & spirits; crafts; caroling; storytelling; ritual and theater; and a community potluck at 5pm (with desert & drinks provided).
*** Please plan to bring a gift from your child to donate to children in need: a toy, non-perishable food, money, or new clothing. ***
For more information & to volunteer to help with set-up (at 1:30pm) or take-down (at 6pm), contact Mark Douglass, Family Council Chair, 503-223-2133
