Book Study Group: Mind Beyond Death
with Susan Neumeier
August 26 / 6:30 PM - November 18 / 8:30 PM
This life is an amazing opportunity. One way to really appreciate it is to realize it will end. What then? When you begin to consider the inevitability of death, lots of questions come up. We will use the book Mind Beyond Death by Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche, along with other resources, to investigate several themes: how an awareness of death improves our enjoyment of life now; what dies and what doesn't; how to prepare for the opportunities death provides; how to support the dying person.
Each evening begins with 30 minutes of meditation practice, followed by our book study group.
Everyone is welcome, but please plan to regularly attend the meetings in order to develop the trust needed to discuss what isn't an easy topic. Enrollment will close after the second class on September 9.
This class is free of charge; however, please register to help us plan.
Susan Neumeier entered the dharma in 1979 as a student of the Vidyadhara Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche. She has studied with many masters since then, primarily Khenpo Tsultrim Gyamsto Rinpoche. She has been trained as a meditation instructor and teacher, and currently serves the Shambhala community as kasung, doing desung practice. She received teachings on the Mind Beyond Death book from Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche himself and has facilitated other groups on this subject.
