Being A Friend - to Yourself and Others

with Emily Bower
July 5 / 9:00 AM - July 5 / 5:00 PM

Being a Friend—to Yourself and Others

In the Buddhist tradition, lovingkindness is not just a feeling, but a
way of being present with ourselves and others. We may feel great
love and appreciation for the people we are close to, but how do
we extend that friendship to ourselves? How can we express true
friendship and love toward someone else when we are enveloped
in self-criticism and self-doubt?
Buddhist practices and teachings offer help and practical tools
for extending simple kindness to ourselves and others—without
surrendering our self-esteem or confidence. Through sitting
meditation, we learn that genuine kindness—and the willingness
to be present with everything that arises in our daily life—requires
courage and strength.
Join us for a day of guided meditation, learning, conversation, and
practicing kindness. Guided meditation will be offered.
