Winter Solstace Nyinthun

June 22 / 9:00 AM - June 22 / 4:00 PM

Mid-winter Solstice is here and it's time to celebrate our accomplishments and look ahead to the coming warmth of spring.

During a nyinthun, periods of silent and seated meditation are interspersed with walking meditation, shamatha yoga, and time for study and reflection. We'll begin at 9:00 am with coffee and tea (provided). Practice starts promptly at 9:30 am.  At 12:30pm we'll break for a potluck lunch, resuming at 1:30 pm. We'll begin and end the day with a short set of traditional group chants.  Much of the day will be spent in functional silence.

Though nyinthun is best experienced in its entirety, people are free to arrive and leave at any time. Meditators of any tradition or experience level are welcome. Basic meditation instruction will be provided for those who request it (if you have never meditated before, please come a little early so we can have the time to give you instruction).

Please bring a plate to share for lunch.

Cost: No cost to participants, though donations are welcome.
