Midsummer Day Community Celebration
June 21 / 4:00 PM - June 21 / 9:00 PM
We'll celebrate Midsummer Day at Susan Gaylord and Jeff Scott's farm with a lhasang, potluck, an oath ceremony for our new head of Societal Health and Wellbeing, and some uplifted merry-making.
Directions to Jeff and Susan's farm:
Address for Mapping: 5005 NC Highway 57, Hurdle Mills, NC 27541.
Directions from Hillsborough: Take 86 North for about a quarter mile, then turn right at the stop light onto NC Highway 57 and drive approx. 5 1/2 miles, passing Schley Road, crossing the Little River, and then, as the road curves to the right, you will see a white mailbox on the right, next to a driveway marked with flags. Turn right and proceed up the driveway to a parking area marked with prayer flags. Park and you'll see the event in an open field, ahead. Call 919-698-2745
if you get lost. (If you get to McKee School Road, you've gone too far.)
This is a pot luck event, so please RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org with what you will bring to eat. Nonalcoholic beverages will be provided. BYOB.
Midsummer Day is an opportunity for families and friends in Shambhala to enjoy summer fun together. The day might include picnics, swimming and boating, outdoor sports, and music and dance performances. It begins with a lhasang (a traditional offering of juniper smoke) that purifies the environment and empowers the space, the objects, and the beings within it by invoking awakened energy. Everyone is welcome to join in.
