Shambhala Training Level II - Birth of the Warrior

with Linda Mockeridge
October 11 / 8:30 AM - October 12 / 5:30 PM

Prerequisite:  Level I - The Art of Being Human

Shambhala Training is organized into five weekend programs that include meditation training and practice, talks by senior instructors, personal interviews and group discussions. Levels I-V provide a strong foundation in mindfulness-awareness meditation practice, emphasizing the development of genuineness, confidence, humor, and dignity within the complexity of daily life. The programs are recommended for new and experienced meditators, as well as for those looking to enrich their existing spiritual path.

We see how meditation practice allows us to observe how we create a cocoon of habits to mask our fear. We begin to appreciate that there is no fundamental obstacle to experiencing basic goodness.  This second level of Shambhala Training intensifies the discipline of meditation practice, enabling participants to work with obstacles that may have arisen as meditation practice develops.

We also explore how habitual ways of thinking and experiencing obscure the raw brilliance of the world we live in and our own genuineness and tenderness. Finally, we learn how to work with the fear that occurs when we move forward out of these habitual patterns.

Participants should be aware that they must attend all parts of a Level, i.e., the entire Level, in order to receive credit for completion of the Level, which is a prerequisite to attend the next Level.

Meals: Coffee will be available in the morning.   Please bring at least $7.00-$10.00 cash for lunch each day.  We will either all eat out together or have something simple catered, including a vegetarian option.  Anyone with special dietary needs is invited to bring their lunch.  The group is invited to go out to dinner Saturday night, but it is not required.

The San Antonio Shambhala Center is committed to making its programs accessible to everyone. As a non-profit organization supported by program fees, donations and the energy of many volunteers we offer three pricing options.

Our Generosity Policy

In order to make our programs accessible to everyone, we have a “pay what you can afford” policy.  If the program price is an obstacle for you, please decide what works for you and offer whatever you can.  To arrange for this, please contact Jackie Snyder jackiesnyder108@yahoo.com .

For those who can offer more than the program price, we have a “patron price”.  Your generosity in offering the patron price helps cover the costs for others who are not able to pay the full price.

Scholarship

A generous donor has made scholarship assistance available for those with limited financial means.  To apply, please contact Jackie Snyder jackiesnyder108@yahoo.com

We would greatly appreciate your registering online before the class, so that we can anticipate class size for food and material preparation.

If you have any questions, please contact Jackie Snyder jackiesnyder108@yahoo.com
