Great Eastern Sun, Windhorse and Drala Retreat
with Melissa Moore
November 21 / 5:00 AM - November 28 / 7:00 AM
Join Acharya Melissa Moore at Casa Werma, the best kept secret in the Shambhala Mandala, for a rich exploration of the profound teachings of the Sacred Path.
The Sacred Path presents a vision of Shambhala as a living example of a sane society and introduces warriorship practices that extend the meditation training given in the first year of the Way of Shambhala. In particular, the Sacred Path introduces students to the first text of the Shambhala Terma, or treasure teachings. These treasure teachings present a societal vision and aspiration to help the world in these difficult times.
The beauty of this retreat is the depth to which the power of windhorse and the magical quality of drala can be explored and experienced, particularly in the sacred gardens of Casa Werma, in the heart of Patzcuaro, Pueblo Magico. The topics are completely interrelated and meant to be understood as a whole. Therefore we encourage full participation.
Great Eastern Sun
The vision of the Great Eastern Sun is the entrance into sacred world and the practice of creating an uplifted and sane society. This program teaches how to see the Great Eastern Sun, the primordial energy and brilliance that is the basis of all that exists.
Participants study the Vidyadhara's terma text, The Letter of the Black Ashe, which gives the instruction for "raising windhorse." The practice of windhorse opens the heart and refreshes one's confidence. It is a way to bring about skillful and heartfelt social engagement, enabling the warrior to go forward in the midst of whatever challenges occur.
Through exploring the depth of perception, one engages the elemental and magical strength inherent in the world. The principle of drala refers to the sacred energy and power that exists when we step beyond aggression.
These programs may be taken individually or as one continuous retreat.
Pre-requisites: Shambhala Training Levels I - V (some exceptions may be made for individuals who have yet to complete Level V). The In Everyday Life series, Rigden Weekend and Basic Goodness series are recommended, but not required for participation in this retreat.
This program is taught in English. Spanish interpretation can be made available. Please register as early as possible to allow us to organize an interpreter, if needed. Thank you.
