27th Parinirvana of the Vidyadhara, Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche - Sadhana of Mahamudra Feast

with Jonathan Barbieri & Adana Barbieri
April 4 / 5:00 PM - April 4 / 6:30 PM

Friday, April 4th is the 27th anniversary of the Parinirvana (death of an enlightened being) of the Vidyadhara, Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche. Every year we remember this day by coming together to practice what he taught us, to appreciate what he has given to our lives, and to inspire us to fulfill his vision to benefit the world.

Everyone is invited to get off work "a little early" to join in the practice and feast of the Sadhana of Mahamudra. This is a special occasion for all members of the community to join together and practice during one of our most unique and special events.

The practice will be led by Jon & Adana Barbieri, a long time practitioners and students of the Vidyadhara, Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche.  There will be an introduction and explanation of the practice at the beginning. We will invite offerings of stories, photos, and poems.

The provided feast menu will be one small slice of tongue, one sprig of asparagus, one strawberry, and one small class of sake during the feast portion of the practice.  As a Shambhala community, all will have the opportunity participate in every aspect of the event, from set-up to clean-up.

About the Sadhana of Mahamudra:
Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche wrote the Sadhana of Mahamudra in 1968 while staying in the cave of Taksang in Bhutan. The Sadhana of Mahamudra invokes the wrathful manifestation of Padmasambhava, called Dorje Trolö, to help us overcome obstacles and confusion in our time.

About the Barbieris:
Jonathan Barbieri was part of the first Shambhala Directors Training with Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche in the late 1970′s. Since then, he has taught extensively throughout North America.  He was formerly the executive director of Shambhala Mountain Center.

Adana Barbieri is a long time Shambhala practitioner and student of the Vidyadhara, Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche.  She is currently a teacher and a student of Shambhala Buddhism, now studying under Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche. She is currently developing and promoting Courageous Women, Fearless Living, an annual retreat for women touched by cancer.
