Beginners' Kyudo: First Shot Program

with Lucy Halverson
September 13 / 12:00 AM - September 14 / 12:00 AM

To begin the study of kyudo, students are required to take First Shot instruction on Saturday morning. This will provide training in Kyudo's Seven Coordinations, shichi-do, the basic form for aligning the body and properly releasing the arrow. The precision of the form offers the student the opportunity to sweep away obstacles allowing one to see the mind and qualities of the heart more clearly.

All are welcome, regardless of age, gender, or physical strength. Teens are welcome, and children should be at least 10 years of age. All necessary equipment will be provided. Please bring comfortable clothing.

"Through Kyudo one can learn to live beyond hope and fear, how to be."  – Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche

"One is not polishing one's shooting style or technique, but the mind." – Shibata Kanjuro XX

The program begins Saturday at 9 am and ends Sunday at 2:30 with a closing ceremony.

Participants arriving on Friday are welcome to observe the intermediate program’s practice and join us for the evening talk after dinner.
