Kyudo Practice Weekend: Beginner and Intermediate Archery Program

June 19 / 12:00 AM - June 22 / 12:00 AM

Kyudo, the Way of the Bow, is one of the oldest arts of the Japanese tradition of contemplative warriorship. It is meditation in action. The aim is not the target, but synchronization of awareness and body in the present moment.

The idea of the Practice Weekend is for kyudo practitioners in the area and beyond to come together in practice with each other and to celebrate our shared journey. The program offers an environment in which beginning and experienced students can advance their practice together. The key is open-hearted participation.

All levels of practitioners welcome, regardless of age, gender, or physical strength. Teens are welcome, and children should be at least 10 years of age. All necessary equipment will be provided. Please bring comfortable clothing.

"Through Kyudo one can learn to live beyond hope and fear, how to be."  – Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche

"One is not polishing one's shooting style or technique, but the mind." – Shibata Kanjuro XX

The program begins Thursday at 1:30pm and ends Sunday at 2:30pm with a closing ceremony. Intermediate students may register for a single day of attendance or multiple days.

First shot will be offered as a part of this program. However, if you are only interested in taking first shot, please Register here:
