Summer Arts Simplicity: Meditation for Real Life

with Lance Brunner
June 20 / 12:00 AM - June 26 / 12:00 AM

Karme Choling Front Lawn

Mindful simplicity can give birth to elegant, artful living.  Simplicity retreats invite us into the tranquil and uplifted environment of Karmê Chöling, where we can stop, pay attention, learn, renew, and celebrate. For many of us the speed, demands, and distractions of daily life do not afford such opportunities. Karmê Chöling is exquisite in the summer, with a sumptuous organic flower and vegetable garden, woodland trails, and spacious rolling green fields. So, welcome to Simplicity at Karmê Chöling in June!

Shambhala Arts

Simplicity welcomes all levels of experience, from beginning meditators to veteran practitioners.  It offers a thorough introduction to mindfulness/awareness practice, as well as an opportunity to deepen practice and clarify one’s path. The program includes group discussions, personal time for study and reflection, nature walks, and exercises in contemplative arts. Art practices can help sharpen perceptions and invite natural, spontaneous expression. We discover how working with the mind/body unity can become the basis for leading a more artful life.  The practice is at once playful and profound.

There will be periodic opportunities to share offerings with the rest of the group.   If you have an art practice, feel free to bring an instruction or example of your work you would like to work on or share.  Or just show up and share your radiance.

The program begins on Friday, June 20th at 7:30 pm and ends on Thursday, June 26, after lunch. The schedule is flexible, allowing for participation for the whole week, a portion, or just one day of the retreat.  So come when you can and stay as long as you can.  (If you can only come for up to a few days, it would be preferable if you could come toward the beginning, but you are welcome any time!)
