Daoist Qi Gong Level 3
with Sophie Léger
April 26 / 9:00 AM - April 27 / 5:00 PM
Daoist Qigong is a spiritual discipline that cultivates body and mind simultaneously. Through the lineage handed down by Dr. Eva Wong, traditional outer and inner Qigong will be presented from two systems: the Pre-celestial Limitless Gate School (Xiantianwujimen) and the Yiquan School.
Xiantianwujimen was founded in the Song dynasty (circa 10th to 12th centuries) by Daoist sage Chen Xiyi, who is recognized as "the father of qigong." Eva Wong is the 19th-generation carrier (quanren) of this lineage.
The Yiquan School was founded by Wang Xiangzhai in the early 20th century. Yiquan is best known for its standing qigong postures called Zhangzhuan. One of Master Wang's students was the Luhe Bafa master Sun Di.
Physically, qigong massages, stretches, and strengthens the body. Energetically, it nourishes the internal organs, gathering and conserving energy. Ultimately, qigong dissolves the duality of mind and body to allow us to live a fully engaged and creative life.
Because the cultivation of body needs to be balanced by the cultivation of mind, Shambhala Shamatha meditation will be integrated with qigong practice throughout the program.
Prerequisite: Levels 1 & 2 must have been taken together on the same weekend, prior to this level 3 class.
Please Note: The starting time for this event has changed to Saturday April 26 at 9am (not on Friday as previously advertised).
