Introduction to Meditation
November 2 / 10:00 AM - November 2 / 11:00 AM
"In mindfulness, or shamatha, meditation, we are trying to achieve a mind that is stable and calm. What we begin to discover is that this calmness or harmony is a natural aspect of the mind. Through mindfulness practice we are just developing and strengthening it, and eventually we are able to remain peacefully in our mind without struggling. Our mind naturally feels content." ~Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche
Introduction to Meditation is a program appropriate for newcomers wishing to learn how to meditate, as well as experienced meditators interested in refreshing their connection to meditation practice.
The session consists of a talk, guided instruction in sitting and walking meditation, and group discussion.
Come as you are! You'll be more comfortable if you don't wear clothes that are too restrictive (such as tight pants or a short skirt). You do not need to register in advance.
Suggested Donation: $10. Generosity policy applies (no one turned away).
Our Center is on the second floor. Please let us know if you need access to the elevator in the building by sending an email to the Center at firstname.lastname@example.org a few days before the program.
