Contentment In Everyday Life

January 7 / 7:00 PM - February 4 / 9:00 PM

The experience of contentment is often missed in our search for excitement and delight, but satisfaction and relaxation can be discovered in everyday life. The Contentment in Everyday Life course is a thorough exploration of mindfulness meditation, delving into the foundational views of the Hinayana Buddhist teachings, and meditation in action for daily life. By acknowledging and understanding the reality of suffering we can open to our inherent goodness and express the qualities of gentleness, appreciation, and fearlessness in our everyday lives.

Classes include meditation sessions, talks by Pema Chӧdrӧn via cd, and discussion groups. Students will also be introduced to contemplative disciplines that make the journey experiential-touching our emotions, intelligence, creativity, and the practical details of daily life in modern society.

This is a public class open to all.  It follows Meditation in Everyday Life in our core curriculum - Way of Shambhala - but it may be taken independently.

When?- This class begins on Tuesday evening Jan. 7, from 7 -9:00 PM, continues on consecutive Tuesday evenings Jan. 14, 21, 28, and concludes on Feb. 4, 2014.
