We are overjoyed at being able to offer a Kyudo intensive with Carolyn Kanjuro. Carolyn was the longtime student and wife of Shibata Sensei XX who recently passed away. Throughout his last years of life Sensei XX traveled and taught with Carolyn throughout the United States and Europe. Carolyn served as his interpreter and assistant Kyudo instructor. She also encouraged Sensei to write his only book and assisted in its publication.
Through her immense generosity, Carolyn is traveling to Sensei's ibas, (shooting places), teaching and gifting them with some of their Master's ashes. We are honored she has included San Antonio in this precious tour.
Kyudo, “the Way of the Bow”, is the ancient discipline of Zen archery. The practice of Kyudo is elegant and deceptively simple. Age, gender, and physical strength have no significance, so both young and old and those from all walks of life, are attracted to Kyudo.
Kyudo, a standing form of meditation, is unlike sport archery in that hitting the target counts for little. In Kyudo, the target serves only as a mirror of one’s mind. With this practice the aim is to synchronize body and awareness in the present moment, and thus purify the heart and mind. Confidence and natural dignity are the result.
Pre-register now to reserve your spot for this very special Kyudo intensive. Space is limited. Please indicate which day(s) you will attend in the "note" section when registering.
Our Generosity Policy
In order to make our programs accessible to everyone, we have a “pay what you can afford” policy. If the program price is an obstacle for you, please decide what works for you and offer whatever you can. To arrange for this, please contact Jackie Snyder email@example.com .
For those who can offer more than the program price, we have a “patron price”. Your generosity in offering the patron price helps cover the costs for others who are not able to pay the full price.
A generous donor has made scholarship assistance available for those with limited financial means. To apply, please contact Jackie Snyder firstname.lastname@example.org
