Shambhala Training Level I - The Art of Being Human

with Betsy Pond
January 17 / 7:00 PM - January 18 / 4:00 PM

Prerequisite for Level I: None, all are welcome to attend.

This level is held in conjunction with Level II as a combined weekend, but may be taken independently.

Through the practice of meditation, we glimpse unconditional goodness as the ground of our existence. Opening to ourselves with gentleness and appreciation, we begin to see our potential as genuine and compassionate human beings.

Shambhala Training is organized into five weekend programs that include meditation training and practice, talks by senior instructors, personal interviews and group discussions. Levels I-V provide a strong foundation in mindfulness-awareness meditation practice, emphasizing the development of genuineness, confidence, humor, and dignity within the complexity of daily life. The programs are recommended for new and experienced meditators, as well as for those looking to enrich their existing spiritual path.

Participants should be aware that they must attend all parts of a Level, i.e. the entire Level, in order to receive credit for completion of the Level, which is a prerequisite to attend the next Level.

Meals: Coffee served in the morning.  Saturday lunch will either be catered in (with vegetarian option) or we will go out to eat together –please bring at least $7.00 - $10.00 cash for lunch.   Anyone with special dietary needs is invited to bring their lunch. The group is invited to go out to dinner Saturday night, but it is not required.

Our Generosity Policy

In order to make our programs accessible to everyone, we have a “pay what you can afford” policy.  If the program price is an obstacle for you, please decide what works for you and offer whatever you can.  To arrange for this, please contact Jackie Snyder .

For those who can offer more than the program price, we have a “patron price”.  Your generosity in offering the patron price helps cover the costs for others who are not able to pay the full price.

A generous donor has made scholarship assistance available for those with limited financial means.  To apply, please contact Jackie Snyder
