Summer Solstice: Community Gathering and Picnic in the park

June 21 / 10:00 AM - June 21 / 4:00 PM

In Shambhala culture, we celebrate our connection to Heaven and  Earth by observing the yearly Solstices and Equinoxes known as the 4 Nyida days. How better to celebrate the first day of summer than to come together  to share good, simple  food and meditation surrounded by Nature?

10:00- 11:30 ,  at the Center.

To be  discussed:

a) the yearly financial report  (10-10:20)

b) the search for a new Center director or co-directors.  Your input is welcome!  (10:20-11:30)

PICNIC 12:00-16:00, at Parc Lafontaine. You are welcome to attend either or both parts of the day’s events, as your schedule permits. Those present at the Assembly will be invited to walk up to Parc Lafontaine and join other sangha members for the Nyida Day picnic and open-air meditation session.  We will begin by sitting publicly  from 12:00 —12:40. The  picnic  will begin at around 1pm.

MEETING PLACE: Parc de la Fontaine, 3819, rue Calixa-Lavallée,  Montréal, There is ample space for parking.  We’ll settle down in front of the Centre Culturelle (to the west) amidst the beautiful trees.

WHAT TO BRING:   a cushion suited for meditation, a picnic lunch , a blanket, musical instruments and/or anything else  you think would  uplift  this  celebration of summer’s arrival!

Friends and children are welcome, but please note that we will be sitting for the first 45 minutes or so, publicly.  Try to be punctual, and just discreetly pull up a cushion if you run late.

In case of rain, we will picnic in the Shrine Room at Shambhala centre.
