Practicing Sanity: A Holiday Season Salon (Open House Shambhala Dharma Nights)
December 4 / 7:00 PM - January 1 / 9:00 PM
Our Open House Shambhala Dharma Nights are a great entry point for newcomers, and suitable for meditators at all levels of experience, offering a friendly introduction to meditation practice, Shambhala Buddhist teachings and our community.
For these four evenings (which run consecutively except for Weds., Dec. 25), we will place special focus on navigating through the holiday season with peace, joy and equanimity, and welcoming the New Year with a fresh perspective.
These evenings will be rich in meditation practice and instruction, guided discussion and talk.
Please note: the evenings are standalone, so come to one, or attend them all.
Everyone is welcome and participation is free of charge.
7 to 7:30 pm: Refreshments and Conversation
A time to casually enjoy one anothers’ company
7:30 to 8 pm: Meditation Instruction and Practice
Introductory instruction is available at 7:30 pm. Group practice runs from 7:30 to approximately 8 pm.
8 to 9 pm: Talk and Discussion
The Holiday Season Salon sessions are coordinated by the Societal Health & Well Being Committee. Topics for group discussion will foster connection and support skillful means for navigating through the holidays — a time of joy and celebration, but one that can also be quite stressful and challenging for us. The Salon facilitator will guide us in discussing what practice and the teachings may have to offer in regards to journeying through the holidays with an open heart, clarity and stability.
Note: On Wednesday night, January 1, we will end the evening with a little more festive celebration to mark the beginning of the New Year according to the Roman calendar.
