The Rigden is a representation of our basic enlightened nature and embodies the principle of unconditional bravery. Historically, rigdens were enlightened rulers —those who could “rule their world” based on their unwavering experience of basic goodness.
The Shambhala Vow - a personal aspiration to continually relate with one's own Basic Goodness - will be included in the weekend. Those who take the Shambhala Vow will receive a Shambhala Name as part of the vow ceremony. Determining your personal Shambhala Name will be the purpose of the Friday afternoon interviews with the Acharya.
The Friday evening talk is a very important part of the weekend, and Acharya Spiegel asks that everyone make every effort to be there. Please email email@example.com if this is a hardship for you.
The Shambnala Vow ceremony will take place at 3pm on Sunday.
Acharya Eric Spiegel has been teaching in the Shambhala Buddhist tradition for over 25 years. In addition to a 22-year career on Wall Street, Eric is known for his work with people with HIV/AIDS and other life-threatening illnesses. He is interested in exploring the nature of mind and meditation, not separate from the hard complexities of “real life”: work, relationships, health, aging.
