Cutting Through Spiritual Materialism

by Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche

a book study class with Jesse Miller and guest speakers

Cutting Through Spiritual Materialism is widely regarded as one of the most important collections of teachings on the Tibetan Buddhist path.  In it the great meditation master, Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche, covers a wide variety of topics from meditation practice and the Four Noble Truths to the Development of Ego, the Bodhisattva path, Shunyata, and more.  Please join us for a mutual book study exploration of these vast and profound teachings.  As a book study, it is extremely important that you do the readings beforehand in order to facilitate a useful examination of these ideas.  The first class will discuss the Introduction (very important) and chapter 1, Spiritual Materialism.  The second class will cover the chapters on Surrendering and The Guru.  We hope you will join us.

The book is widely available to be purchased on-line (click on book cover above to get to the Shambhala Publications site) or at local bookstores; we will not be providing or selling copies of the book.

This class will run on Wednesdays from 7 - 9:00 p.m. through November, December and January (Please click on "date details" above for specifics). We'll be taking the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years off).

Price: $135 for non-members, $100 for members (of any Shambhala Center). Generosity Policy applies.

Note about participation: As this is a rather lengthy ten week class, we understand that many will not be able to attend all classes. So please attend as many as you can as having continuing participation helps with the continuity of the class, but please don't hesitate to register if you know you cannot make 2 or 3 classes. That said, we are not offering a class by class price. The price as listed takes into account that participation in every class is unlikely. However, as noted before, the Generosity Policy Applies.
