Four Foundations of Mindfulness

The historical Buddha taught meditation using the “four foundations of mindfulness. They are mindfulness of body, sensation, thoughts, and phenomena. These instructions have been passed down to Buddhist meditators of all generations and in all schools of Buddhism, for they are the foundations on which all Buddhist meditational traditions have been built.
In this program, Lopon Rita Gross continues her series of teachings on the basic teachings and practices of Buddhism as laid out by our original teacher, the historical Buddha. Building on materials presented in her first two workshops, The Four Truths and The Twelve Nidanas, this program will include meditation instruction, guided meditations, study of classical texts, discussion, and talks by Lopon Rita.
Lopon Rita Gross was a student of the Vidyadhara Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche and of Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche. She was empowered as a lopon (acharya or senior teacher) by Her Eminence Mindrolling Khandro Rinpoche in 2005. She is an internationally known scholar-practitioner in the Kagyu and Nyingma traditions of Vajrayana Buddhism.
Known as a warm, humorous, and very clear teacher, her teaching involves a rare combination of academic and dharmic perspectives. She has extensive training and experience both as a professor of comparative studies in religion and as a Buddhist dharma teacher authorized to teach in several Tibetan Buddhist lineages.
