Young Meditator's Group
May 22 / 7:00 PM - May 22 / 9:00 PM
The Portland Young Meditators' Group is a meditation, mindfulness and social group for those who identify in some way as "young" - most of our members are in their 20s and 30s, but all are welcome. The idea of focusing on age is not meant to be exclusionary, but rather to promote community, connection and inspiration among an age group that is often in the minority at many meditation centers.
The Young Meditators' group is a way to connect, share space, presence, ideas and practice with others who are interested in meditation and mindfulness, community and social engagement, regardless of what tradition you may practice in.
We meet on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of every month, at 7:00pm, at the Portland Shambhala Center. A typical meeting involves meditation, a speaking and listening exercise, a dharma reading or video, discussion and socializing afterwards.
Those who are new to meditation are warmly encouraged to attend, although meditation instruction isn’t offered at the group. If instruction is desired, please attend the open community sitting on Tuesdays at 7:00pm or the first and third Sundays at 9:30am.
For more information, please contact Rebecca Jamieson, Young Meditators' Group Coordinator. Until it is possible to replace contact links in our new website, please contact this person by emailing Abbey Pleviak. Please allow time for the message to be relayed.
