Contentment in Everyday Life is a 5-week course offering an experiential training in contentment, as well as an exploration of the obstacles or challenges to experiencing simplicity, gentleness and mindfulness in everyday life. Contentment can be hard to find in this busy world. Much of the time we search for contentment in things, achievements or relationships. With meditation practice, we relax with ourselves and appreciate simple human experiences. Difficult emotions and challenges of life can be met with gentleness, mindfulness and inquisitiveness.

In Contentment in Everyday Life, meditation experience is deepened through the cultivation of contentment and simplicity. We explore the foundational views of the hinayana Buddhist teachings, and meditation in action for daily life. Through understanding the painful conditions and emotions that keep us trapped in habitual patterns, we can open to our inherent goodness and express the qualities of gentleness, appreciation and steadiness.


This is an introductory class in the Way of Shambhala curriculum. It offers a glimpse of the Shambhala vision of an enlightened society created through mindfulness-awareness meditation, and how the stability and wisdom cultivated through this practice can expand to benefit the world around us.


Location & Hosting: This program takes place in Orchard Park an will be co-hosted by the Shambhala Meditation Group of Buffalo and the Shambhala Meditation Group of the Southtowns. Carpooling from the CG Jung Center in Buffalo, NY will be available. Please indicate if you need a ride or would like to drive in your registration.
