Sparks of Mahamudra

This autumn, we will explore the transmission and practice of mahamudra. The emphasis with be on direct experience, how to deepen the transmission in everyday life. Each week we will practice a short session of mahamudra practice. Afterward, we will discuss that aspect of mahamudra, which will become the focus of practice and our lives for the next week.

Prerequisites
This is an advanced, Vajrayana program. To participate, students must have completed Vajrayana Seminary with either Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoceh or Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche, or attened Sacred World Assembly. Due to the profound nature of the material it is Acharya Rockwell's guideline that watching it at home or doing it on a drop-in basis are not permitted.  


Schedule
Each session will begin at 5:30 with half an hour of sitting meditation. The Acharya will join us at 6 PM. Therefore, if you are rushing from work to attend, please be certain to have taken your seat by 6.


Ashe Acharya John Rockwell first met Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche in 1975. He taught Buddhist Studies at Naropa University, was co-director of Karmê Chöling, and was Director of Shambhala International. In 1996, he was named an acharya by Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche, and in 2001 was appointed the Ashe Acharya. For seven years, he was resident acharya at Karmê Chöling. During this time, he studied Daoist qigong with Eva Wong who authorized him to teach. He now lives in Halifax, Nova Scotia with his wife, Rhiannon Wells, and travels internationally to teach. In addition, he is engaged in a naturalist training course with the Wilderness Awareness School and spends time gardening and wandering in the forest.
