Ikebana Weekend Intensive
with Doria Cross
November 9 / 9:00 AM - November 10 / 12:00 PM
Kalapa Ikebana, founded by Chögyam Trungpa in 1982, joins the practices of mindfulness and ikebana. In this workshop we will work with our state of mind as we engage in arranging flowers using the elements of heaven, earth and man. Training in this way helps us to connect fully to our world with non-aggression and to express our heart and mind through flowers. We learn how to bring balance and harmony to our lives. Students at any level are welcome to participate.
Doria Gutierrez Cross has been a student of ikebana since 1995. She has been fortunate enough to have studied for four years under Sensei Carol Halpern. Sensei Halpern was part of the original Kalapa Ikebana group begun by the VenerableTrungpa Rinpoche.
This weekend intensive will consist of learning the basics of Kalapa Ikebana and creating several arrangements. Materials will be available for purchase. If you would like to purchase a pair of Japanese ikebana clippers please let us know. If not please bring your own set of garden clippers.
The center Has some kenzans and containers which we can use, but there is a limited supply, flowers will be provided.
