 REGIONAL WEEKTHUN

AT MARGARET AUSTIN CENTER IN CHAPPELL HILL,  TX

Please join us during the week of November 3rd thru the 10th at the Margaret Austin Center in Chappell Hill, Texas, for the South Central Region of Shambhala Annual Weekthun.

We are delighted to once again have Acharya Moh Hardin, author of Little Book of Love, and Sangyum Cynde Grieve lead us during this special Pilot Shambhala Meditation Weekthun.

Below is a message from Acharya Hardin:

"In this year’s weekthun, or weeklong meditation retreat, we have been given permission to practice and explore “Shambhala Meditation.” Shambhala Meditation is not another technique, but a transmission of the spirit and essence of meditation. The three stages of feeling, being, and touching connect us directly with our basic goodness and awaken us to the fullness of our humanity.

Shambhala Meditation originated while Sakyong Mipham was in Pharping, Nepal, in 2011, receiving the transmission of the lineages of tantric teachings that were brought from India to Tibet. At the culmination of this month of transmissions, the Sakyong had a strong experience of the need for humanity to connect to its own worthiness. He then reflected on how his father, Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche, had expressed to him that the essence of meditation is simply being. Reflecting on this, the three stages of Shambhala Meditation—feeling, being, and touching—arose as a vision and an empowerment.

Shambhala Meditation is the heart of the Shambhala message: feeling worthy to be, and touching our basic goodness. The entire vision of Shambhala can be experienced in this simple yet profound practice. It is an honor to be able to present this pilot at our annual Texas/Louisiana weekthun."

There are no prerequisites and all are welcome to attend. In our daily schedule we will be using the contemplative practices of shamatha/vipassana meditation, study periods and oryoki (http://www.shambhala.org/oryoki.php ) as well as daily dharma talks and Rota assignments. We will also be looking to fill several volunteer staff coordinator positions.
