The Three Aspects of Sitting Practice

with Joseph Litven
October 17 / 7:15 AM - October 17 / 9:00 AM

"The Three Aspects of Sitting Practice: posture, technique and joy."

with Joe Litven

‘Meditation practice is about experiencing reality, and being as real as possible in your own existence’.

Please join us for our first public talk at our new venue, the Jing Institute, Brighton, on the evening of Thursday 17th October 2013.  We are delighted to welcome Joe Litven again to Brighton to deliver teachings, and this talk will be inspired by the recently published Profound Treasury of  Dharma; Volume I, Hinayana, (edited by Judy Lief), and based on the collected Seminaries of Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche.

The Profound Treasury of the Ocean of Dharma represents meditation master Chögyam Trungpa’s greatest contribution to Western Buddhism. This talk will resonate with new students of Buddhism as well as the advanced practitioners.  The first volume, The Path of Individual Liberation, presents the teachings of the hinayana. The hinayana introduces core Buddhist teachings on the nature of mind, the practice of meditation, the reality of suffering, and the possibility of liberation. It examines the nature of suffering, impermanence, and egolessness, with an emphasis on personal development through meditative discipline and study.

Joe Litven has been practicing mindfulness-awareness for almost 40 years, teaching meditation programs in North and South America as well as Europe.  With a PhD in psychology his varied career has involved being a practicing psychologist, consultant, radio DJ, ad agency account executive, and owning a business devoted to executive coaching, organisational transformation and mindfulness-based leadership development.
