Write Where You Are: Contemplative Writing Practice (Eagle Rock)
with Debra Dysart & Alicia Vogl Saenz
October 10 / 7:30 PM - November 6 / 9:30 PM
Using meditation as a portal to the creative process, this 5-week contemplative writing series will explore writing as practice while being grounded in the present moment. Each meeting will intersperse meditation with playful and exploratory writing exercises. Time will be allotted for compassionate listening as we share our writing in a supportive environment. No previous experience with meditation or writing is required. Everyone is welcome.
Debra Dysart is a meditation instructor and has been a student of Shambhala Buddhism since she found Pema Chödrön’s Wisdom of No Escape in a Barnes and Noble in 1997. She also met her husband in that same bookstore who told her about the Shambhala Center in Los Angeles. Debra is now Co-Director of the Center and works for a nonprofit arts organization.
Alicia Vogl Saenz is a published poet and has been a practitioner of Shambhala Buddhism for 7 years.
