Discovering Basic Goodness within Body, Speech, and Mind

with Jay Lippman
December 6 / 7:00 PM - December 8 / 5:00 PM

The main purpose of this weekend is to explore how the ancient Buddhist teachings on emptiness can lead us to a direct experience of our inherent basic goodness, the core teaching of Shambhala. Using Nagarjuna’s famous Mahayana text from the first century CE, The Fundamental Wisdom of the Middle Way, we will contemplate the logic of emptiness, or the true nature of reality. In order to bring the experience of the material into our hearts and minds we will mix our investigation with the songs of enlightened masters and specific movement exercises.
Students may choose to prepare for this course by reading The Sun of Wisdom by Khenpo Tsultrim (available on Amazon and elsewhere).

Jay Lippman, a student of Buddhism since 1973, is known for his genuine commitment to serious Dharma study and practice, for his sense of humor, clarity and a style of teaching that is both comprehensive and accessible to students at all levels of practice. In addition to being a student of the late meditation master Chogyam Trungpa, Rinpoche, Jay has also studied extensively with two of the current principle teachers of the Tibetan Kagyu lineage, Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche and Khenpo Tsultrim Gyamtso Rinpoche, and is a student of Sakyong Mipham Ripoche.  Jay has been instructed by Khenpo Tsultrim Gyamtso Rinpoche to teach a variety of specific courses in order to clarify key points of Buddhist teachings for Western students.
