Shambhala Training Level I: The Art of Being Human
March 21 / 7:00 PM - March 22 / 6:00 PM
Through the practice of meditation, we begin to glimpse the reality that goodness rather than confusion is the unconditional ground of our existence. Opening to ourselves with gentleness and appreciation, we begin to see our potential as genuine and compassionate human beings. This program includes meditation instruction with periods of sitting and walking practice, formal talks, collaborative group discussions and individual meetings with a meditation instructor.
Based on ancient teachings that were brought to the West by Tibetan Buddhist meditation master Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche, Shambhala Training weekends offer a way of living in the world with confidence, genuineness and creative expression based on the inherent wisdom that exists in every person. Attendees receive clear and precise methods for uplifting their personal experience and relationships with others.
The weekend will be taught by Mike Ratener has been a student on the Shambhala path for about 35 years. He's a psychiatrist, and started practicing and studying at our San Francisco Center the first week he began his psychiatry training. He said that what matters in his work more than anything else is that his patients come away from treatment experiencing the respect and friendliness for themselves that he learned from the Shambhala teachings.
