Discovering a Mindful Life - Retreat Intensive


November 15 / 6:00 PM - November 17 / 4:00 PM

In this weekend retreat, we will discuss both scientific research and Buddhist philosophical perspectives on human psychology, with the goal of achieving new insight into our sense of self, interdependence, and where we have the freedom to act.  This insight can provide new approaches to bringing mindfulness to our “real” lives, allowing us to negotiate difficult situations with increased ease. Through guided meditations we will explore self-discovery on the path of the four elements.  There will be intensive sessions suited for both beginning and experienced meditators.


 Vegetarian meals and simple lodging will be provided. 


 


Leaders:


Dr. Rebecca McAllister is Director of Shambala’s Windhorse Retreat Center, and brings a rare combination of experience and training to her teachings in Shambhala Buddhism and as a family nurse practitioner.


Peter Komendowski, a student of the dharma since the early 70’s, explores the transformation of consciousness through the understanding of self, not self, and divine imagination.


Dr. Douglas Gentile has been studying Buddhism and Taoism since about 1989, and he currently writes the American Buddhist blog and for the Interdependence Project blog.  He is a research scientist, and his approach joins the scientific and Buddhist philosophical perspectives.
