Who Am I? The Basic Goodness of Being Human

with Tom Brothers
September 18 / 7:00 PM - October 23 / 9:00 PM

This is the first course of three in the Basic Goodness series, which introduces the view of Shambhala in an experiential way.  The Basic Goodness series is a brand new part of the Way of Shambhala Curriculum, the core set of teachings offered at theDurhamShambhalaCenter.  The key difference between the Everyday Life courses and the Basic Goodness courses is that the Everyday Life courses emphasize personal transformation in daily life, whereas the Basic Goodness courses emphasize the experiential study of view and meaning.

While you may start with this series, we recommend that you receive basic meditation instruction in advance (at a Shambhala open house or Learn to Meditate class, for instance).

Tom Brothers was appointed Shastri by Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche in September, 2012.  In Sanskrit, shastri literally means "teacher learned in the texts and commentaries". The shastri’s role is to bring the current understanding of the Shambhala Buddhist vision and teachings to their centers, to be a reference point for questions about the path, and in particular to help establish The Way of Shambhala curriculum as the core path.

Open to all. Generosity policy applies.
