The Supreme Thought: Bodhicitta and the Enlightened Society Vow
with Anthony Walker & Michael Stephens
October 24 / 6:30 PM - November 21 / 8:30 PM
At the core of the Mahayana Buddhist teachings is the crown jewel of bodhichitta, the intention to bring all sentient beings to enlightenment. This is the supreme thought, the highest possible concept that the mind can generate. The person who has this intention of becoming awake in order to liberate others is a bodhisattva. Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche, the head of Shambhala, has written a book on this, the highest intention of Mahayana Buddhism, and its connection to the Enlightened Society vow. The class will feature discussion and mutual discovery of the wisdom revealed in this commentary. Prerequisites: Basic Goodness II Class OR Shambhala Training Level III OR Joy in Everyday Life class.
