Way of Shambhala I: Contentment in Everyday Life
March 3 / 7:00 PM - March 31 / 9:00 PM
“Contentment comes from knowing that everything we need is contained in the present moment." Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche
Contentment is hard to find. We usually think contentment is found in things, achievements or experiences. With meditation practice, we find we can relax with ourselves, appreciate simple human experiences and meet the difficult emotions and challenges of life with gentleness, mindfulness and inquisitiveness.
This 5-week series is an introduction to the foundational Shambhala and Buddhist teachings, an exploration of mindfulness meditation and meditation in action for daily life. This is the second class series in the Way of Shambhala I curriculum and is the recommended companion course following Shambhala Training Level II.
The Way of Shambhala is a complete introduction to the foundations of Shambhala Buddhism. The Everyday Life and subsequent Basic Goodness series of contemplative workshops provide an experiential overview of meditation practice, wisdom teachings, contemplative practicess, and physical disciplines rooted in the ancient traditions of Shambhala and Tibetan Buddhism and also prepare students who wish to further develop their practice and study at residential retreats and assemblies.
This program is open to everyone. Its focus on group discussion and exploration of the material provides a wonderful opportunity to share insights and clarify and integrate understanding.
