Shambhala Fall Internship Program
September 2 / 6:00 PM - September 2 / 8:00 PM
Program is now full. Thanks for your interest!
Next program begins Saturday, September 7th, 2013, and ends December 9th, 2013.
Enlightened or awake society begins with personal transformation, training and leadership from each individual. By awakening our own bravery and compassion and working with others we can bring tremendous benefit to this world.
The Shambhala Fall Leadership Training Program at Berkeley Shambhala Center emphasizes the path of profound service and community engagement. Interns sign up for three month periods, offering eight to fifteen hours of service to the center a week. In return they receive monthly leadership training workshops, a bi-weekly study group, a Shambhala mentor and free programs at the center.
Internship Positions include event hosting, program coordination and department assistants.
Check-Ins and Study Group takes place every other Monday at 6 PM. Study emphasizes the connection between the Shambhala teachings and service as path.
Leadership Training Sessions are taught by senior Bay Area Shambhala teachers and take place once a month on Saturdays from 9 to 4 at the San Francisco and Berkeley Shambhala Centers.

How does it work?
As an intern you commit to eight to fifteen hours of community service to the center a week, checking in every other Monday at 6:30 PM for a group discussion, study and work meeting. Additionally, we offer one Saturday training each month on the art of leadership. Interns commit to daily meditation practice, participation in community events like open houses, and a curriculum of ongoing study.
As an intern you can receive mentoring and guidance by a meditation instructor on the path of service and leadership as well as free programs at the center during this time period.
Who is it for?
The internship program is for anyone interested in deepening their meditation practice, strengthening their leadership skills and contributing to creating Enlightened Society at the Berkeley Shambhala Center.
The next internship program begins with Acharya Alan Schwartz's program on Shambhala Lineage, History, and Culture at SF Shambhala Center and then orientation at BSC on Monday, September 9th. The program ends December 2nd, 2013.
