The Art of Staffing and Coordinating at the Shambhala Center of Minneapolis

This workshop introduces students to shrine protocol, Umdze and Gatekeeper positions. This is an opportunity to become acquainted with these roles. Participants will be able to practice ringing the gong and leading chants in a low-key and relaxed environment. 

Special attention will be given to the practice of staffing Way of Shambhala Levels, including an overview of the Coordinator's role. Our concluding activity will be to prepare and enjoy a simple reception, followed by group clean-up.

12:15 PM   Arrive for coffee and tea

12:30 PM   Gather in the shrineroom for sitting

12:45 PM   Introduction to Umdze and Gatekeeper roles including shrine protocol, timekeeping, chant leading and gong practice

1:45 PM    Break

1:55 PM    Introduction to Way of Shambhala staffing and coordinating including staff decorum, Director’s service, Ikebana, audio, food, receptions and Coordinating programs

This program is intended for and open to anyone who has completed Way of Shambhala Level III and above, and has an established practice. The program will be led by Steven Anderson, Way of Shambhala Co-coordinator.
