CONTENTMENT in Everyday Life

with Chris Stockinger & Mary Kubicki
November 7 / 7:00 PM - December 12 / 9:00 PM

CONTENTMENT, simplicity, and mindfulness are connected with the precision of the hinayana, the teachings that form the foundation of the Buddhist path. And in Shambhala, the meek dignity of the tiger brings alive this simplicity and mindfulness and realizes it in the present moment.

Although basic goodness is the ground, we experience discontentment and pain. In this course we learn why experience is often habitual and full of discontentment. We recognize this with gentleness, and settle into nowness with contentment and appreciation.

Each class includes meditation and/or contemplation, some social element, a presentation, and time for a discussion of how the material relates to our personal life.

No pre-requisite: This course is open to all.

The Way of Shambhala series provides a strong foundation in mindfulness-awareness meditation and is composed of Shambhala Training Levels I-V, each followed by a five-week course. The series is designed to be applied to the complexity of our daily lives, and to develop courage and sanity in these troubled times of uncertainty. CONTENTMENT is the second of the five courses.

Over the course of a year, the Way of Shambhala introduces the entire Shambhala path. It offers a glimpse of the Shambhala vision of enlightened society by emphasizing the ways in which meditation can impact our daily lives, and from there, how the sanity of meditation can expand to impact our whole society.

The Way of Shambhala curriculum was designed by Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche based on the Shambhala Teachings of his father, Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche. The Shambhala Path emphasizes the development of genuineness, confidence, good humor, and personal human dignity.

Although the first two courses in this series can be taken with no pre-requisites, if you are new to Shambhala Training it is best if these courses are taken following the corresponding Shambhala Training level.

The entire Way of Shambhala series is directed by thoroughly trained and experienced Shambhala teachers.
