What is your vision for change in this world? It's not easy to know which path or methods would help the most. In The Shambhala Principle, author Sakyong Mipham opens the book with a letter to the reader: "Dear Reader, We humans have come to a crossroads in our history: we can either destroy the world or create a good future . . ."
The Shambhala spiritual tradition, rooted in Tibetan Buddhist meditation and philosophy, suggests that we contemplate the basic nature of humankind, which is essentially whole and good. But many of us don't think of human beings that way. We think of people as being destructive and aggressive, or competitive and voracious.
Join us for a day of exploring meditation and discussing the profound potential of humans to improve our world simply by being kinder to ourselves and each other, and by recognizing each other's basic worthiness. Through deep, mysterious, esoteric practices from ancient Tibet--such as holding the door open for the person walking behind you instead of letting it slam in their face--we might discover the power of cultivating good human society in very simple ways.In this day-long retreat, we’ll explore how meditation can help us to discover our own goodness and worthiness and how this discovery could actually change the way we live and have an impact on the world around us.
