August 31 / 9:00 AM - September 1 / 5:00 PM
Community/Deepening Weekends are a time for the Seattle Shambhala community to come together to deepen our practice and our connections. These weekends are an opportunity for the entire community to practice shamatha meditation together for an extended period, as well as for smaller group practices that require authorization.
Typically childcare is offered on the Sunday mornings of these weekends (please check the Families and Children page to confirm for a particular weekend).
All of these activities are offered at no cost.
Planned weekends in 2013 include:
August 31 - September 1 (with option of Monday holiday - will be updated if this is scheduled)
September 21 - 22 (Note: 9/21 is Harvest of Peace)
November 9 - 10
December 28 - 29 (with option of more days of intensive practice - will be updated if this is scheduled)
These weekends currently include the following practices:
Open to all:
Shamatha Meditation - Sundays, 10-11:30 AM (with meditation instruction available, refreshments, and discussion), and 2-5 PM.
Shambhala Sadhana - Sundays at 12:30 PM.
Gesar (Authentic Presence) Sadhana - Sundays at 3 PM.
Vajrayana Practice - Saturdays and Sundays 9 AM - 5 PM.
Other groups that are interested in practicing together (for example, Way of Shambhala cohorts, groups who have all completed through certain levels) can work with Cynthia Bradshaw (Calendar Coordinator) and Adrienne Papermaster (Director of Practice and Education) to define their intention and schedule a time during the planned weekends. This could also be a time for monthly book discussion or other study groups to meet and for community gatherings and celebrations.
Location: Seattle Shambhala Center, 3107 E Harrison St, Seattle.
