Ancient Contemplative Arts Weekend

with Judy Bond
December 14 / 9:00 AM - December 15 / 5:00 PM

Contemplate and decorate! On Saturday, learn basic principles in Ikebana flower arranging and then create holiday arrangements for the center and your home using a variety of evergreens and holly. Bring your Ikebana container and any ornaments that you might want to use or purchase materials from the instructor.

On Sunday morning, learn about and practice calligraphy and seal making. In the afternoon, you’ll use these skills in the art of “etegami” which is a Japanese art form that means “picture letter”. Combine your calligraphy, seal making, drawing, and poetry to create postcard greetings. Glitter will be provided!

Sunday, Dec. 15, 12:30-2:00 Holiday Cookie Swap! In between the morning and afternoon sessions, we will host a holiday cookie swap. Bring at least 6 dozen of your favorite HOMEMADE cookies made from scratch and copies of your recipe to share. No store bought cookies allowed. Open to everyone.

Judy Bond has trained in Japanese flower arrangement and brushwork, and is a senior teacher of Shambhala Art, a program that explores the connection between meditation and the creative process. She is also authorized to teach meditation and direct weekends in the Shambhala tradition.
