Pema's 'Practicing Peace' Birthday Retreat

July 14 / 9:00 AM - July 14 / 5:00 PM

Please join thousands from around the world in celebrating Pema's 77th birthday by taking part in the annual Birthday Retreat. Our center will hold a nyinthun retreat–a day long meditation intensive–on that day. Pema’s deepest hope is that this will help us plant the seed of peace in our own hearts, in our homes and in our communities. Pema has filmed a teaching just for this occasion offering advice, encouragement, and meditation instruction. We will play it at our center, along with some other recordings from Pema throughout the day.

This retreat and the teachings from Pema is free, and open to everyone. If you’re able and inspired, please consider making an offering to Pema’s project Nepal Nuns at http://pemachodronfoundation.org/activities/the-nuns-of-tsoknyi-gechak-ling/). Thanks to the generosity of many of you from around the world, the project has been able to begin the building of ‘Pema Chödrön Drupde’, a new three-year retreat center for the nuns of Tsoknyi Gechak Ling nunnery in the hills surrounding the Kathmandu Valley in Nepal. This year, the focus is on supporting these nuns in their study and retreat with books, heating fuel, beds and linens, food, etc.

Please register soon. Pema is looking forward to sharing her birthday with you from her retreat cabin in Colorado. Last year, 11,000 friends joined in from 101 countries – from Ukraine to Uganda, and from Tajikistan to Tibet. Also, please let others know about this wonderful opportunity to help celebrate Pema’s birthday and help bring peace into our lives and throughout the world. It means so much to Pema knowing that people around the world are gathering to practice peace.

We will have a light breakfast at 8:30 am. The retreat will start at 9am. There will be a small celebration afterwards and all are welcome. If you inspired to offer food/drink/help or had any question/comment, please contact Phong Nguyen at phong.c.nguyen@gmail.com
