Midsummer Day Beach Picnic Celebration

June 29 / 10:00 AM - June 29 / 2:00 PM

Midsummer Day is an opportunity for families and friends in Shambhala to enjoy summer fun together. What better way to celebrate than on the beautiful sandy beaches of St. Petersburg. Bring your beach gear and a cooler with a dish to share and come join us on Pass-a-Grille Beach.

At 10:00 am we will start setting up our tents and beach gear so we can create the space. The celebration will begin at 11:00 am with a lhasang (a traditional offering of juniper smoke) that purifies the environment and empowers the space, objects, and beings within it by invoking awakened energy. We will then follow the lhasang with a short meditation session and then a pot luck lunch. After lunch we can have a little frisbee fun, take a dip in the water, or lay out and soak up the beautiful Florida sun. Later on the adults can take a drala walk along the beach while the kids will go on a seashell hunt. This event is open to everyone, so please bring your family and friends!

What to bring: Beach chairs, coolers with drinks and a dish to share, covering (like an umbrella or tent because there are no picnic shelters here so it will get hot!), beach bucket and shovel if you are bringing kids and any other fun beach games you may have.

Location/Parking: We will be at the 22nd Street boardwalk entry (this is the very last entrance before the public beach parking ends). Parking is $1.50 per hour, with a max of $12 for the whole day. You pay with a credit card at the meters which are located near the boardwalk beach entry.
