Children's Day Celebration
December 21 / 3:30 PM - December 21 / 6:00 PM
Everyone Invited! Families and children and all adults are warmly welcome to attend the
Annual Children's Day Celebration
The December Nyida Day is "Children's Day." This holiday, instituted by Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche, celebrates children and emphasizes every child can be a king or a queen! Please come and gather as a community, enjoy our rich Shambhala traditions, and celebrate Winter Solstice.
Children, often curious about what happens at the center, will be invited to begin the evening by making an offering at the shrine. Singing, listening to a short story, acting in a play and making crafts to decorate the shrine room will follow. The evening promises to be “an uplifted and magical celebration for children, and a way of empowering them with a sense of dignity, sanity and goodness.” The celebration culminates with a potluck dinner beginning at approximately 5:00pm. Please click HERE for the Solstice Potluck details.
Please register for Children's Day Celebration below, and indicate the name(s) and age(s) of your child(ren) in the Comments field. This way, we can set up the space appropriately! We encourage children to bring a small object that is most special to them to place on the shrine for the duration of the event, which they will bring back with them when they return home.
Anyone who would like to volunteer for the event should contact Chris Bacon at firstname.lastname@example.org.
